JCB present their approach to Performance Management and 360 Degree Feedback with Bowland Solutions at the Manufacturer Live 2006 Conference.
With a presentation entitled, “JCB: How we use effective Performance Management & 360 Degree Feedback to develop our employees “, Paul Pritchard, Head of Learning & Development, outlined what JCB considered to be the factors of success in conducting appraisals.
He began by sharing some of their early forays into performance management and 360 degree feedback, citing the inherent difficulties in introducing these practices into a task-oriented environment.
However, a fundamental belief in the benefits of feedback for both the individual to aid development and for the organisation to improve productivity, helped them to stay the course and gradually use on-line technology to smooth the way.
Working with Bowland Solutions, they enhanced the process to by build on an existing online CV record system. Employees readily updated their CV before requesting 360 degree feedback as part of the performance review cycle.
The success of the process came about through effective deployment of on-line technology and simplicity of use, enabling the process to be employee driven with minimal administration required.
